Everything you need to get started with your Air Rifle!

Image
If you're relatively new to the whole Air Gun world then you may be wondering if there's anything you really should be getting, apart from the gun itself obviously! On this page you will find all the products that I personally recommend. They all do the job that they're intended for and they do it well.

Air Rifle Safety Glasses

These are something you should get at the same time as you buy your first air gun. Especially if you intend to do any kind of practice plinking. If you're not familiar with the word 'plinking' by the way, it just means the fun you have outside perfecting your shot and aiming at old tin cans and stuff.
When you're shooting at quite close range some of your targets (including wood) won't absorb all the energy when the pellet hits it. What this means is that sometimes they can ricochet off the target. Sometimes, the direction will be straight back at you or someone else watching. It's happened to me, a .177 slug rebounded off a tree and hit me quite hard in the side of the face. If it had hit me in the eye without glasses there would have been damage.
Don't take any chances with your safety, just make sure you have a good pair of shooting safety goggles and you can't go wrong with these.
USMC Poly Carbonate Anti-Fog Safety Goggles
These USMC Goggles are what you want to get. There's no point recommended anything else as these get the job done. They're slightly tinted so you can use them in the sun, comfortable and safe. They will work both indoor and outdoors so you will only need one pair. If you'd like to check the price on these please click on the link.

Targets for your Air Gun

Things would get pretty boring very quickly if you didn't have anything to shoot at! Particularly important when trying to encourage the first-time shooter to get into the sport, a good target can make all the difference. It not only makes the sport fun but also encourages skill development whilst at it. They enable fun little competitions within the family or something perhaps a bit more serious with your friends. I'm recommending targets I've used, my friends have used or my family if used here so I can vouch for any of these.

Steel Targets - Silhouettes and More

Lots to choose from here and although this was designed for firearms it works just as well with airguns. Constructed from excellent quality steel you won't have to worry about bringing this thing in from the outside, it will most likely outlive your Air Rifle!
Different sized targets mean you can start off at a relatively easy level and make it a bit tougher when the time is right. A well-made, versatile, sturdy bit of kit this.

Big Dawg Reactive Splatter Target

The stand-out feature with this target is that when you hit it a bright florescent splatter easily shows you where you've hit, easily viewable from some distance away. No more having to approach the target after every shot! It's made of a heavy-duty tag board so it's just perfect for plinking!

Shooting Rest Bag

Recommended if you have a spring-piston Air Rifle as you don't want to rest your airgun on anything solid. The internal movement of your spring-piston's components will cause vibrations and will mean you'll find it really hard to get any kind of consistency and accuracy. Regardless of whether you have one of these types or not, it's just really comfy to use and having used one myself for many years, I can really recommend it. There are quite a few on the market but I'd go for this:

Shooters Ridge Monkey Bag Gun Rest

The Shooters Ridge Shooting Bag gets fantastic reviews for a very good reason. It's made of water-resistant, durabale material and can be easily transported from and to your preferred location. I've had a few of these shooting bags and since switching to the Shooters Ridge I haven't looked back, it's my only recommendation in this category. It comes already pre-filled with ground corn cob granules and it's so varsatile you can place it almost anywhere.
